Position Description: A Project Coordinator is needed to provide contractual assistance to the Division of Disease Prevention (DDP) Viral Hepatitis Program for a recently awarded Frontlines of Communities in the United States (FOCUS) grant. The FOCUS Project Coordinator (FPC) will be responsible for modifying existing hepatitis testing forms and quality assurance materials to reflect data elements required for the FOCUS project. The FPC will provide assistance with training local health department (LHD) and drug treatment center (DTC) staff to conduct hepatitis testing. This position will gather resources needed to develop a client triage hotline and train VDH staff to cover the duties of the hotline. The FPC will monitor test-level data that is collected from project activities and will establish performance measures related to testing clients in targeted risk groups. This position will provide testing sites with monthly feedback on performance measures and the VDH management team with monthly updates on project-level performance measures. The FPC will coordinate the monthly data report submission, interim report submission, and final report submission to FOCUS program administrators. The FPC will work closely with the FOCUS Viral Hepatitis Linkage to Care Coordinator (FOCUS VHLtC) and members of the DDP Viral Hepatitis Testing Program, the Viral Hepatitis Testing Coordinator (VHTC), the Viral Hepatitis Epidemiologist (VHE) and the statewide Viral Hepatitis Linkage to Care Coordinator (VHLtC).

Qualifications: Minimum: Knowledge of public health practices; epidemiology and disease intervention methodologies (particularly those related to hepatitis and/or HIV/STD). Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and procedures related to disease reporting and control. Strong oral and written communication; excellent interpersonal; partnership development and rapport building; program implementation and management; and computer (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) skills. Ability to interpret viral hepatitis epidemiologic data; conduct training; prepare reports; write grant narratives; make sound decisions; collaborate with external partners to tailor technical assistance and training for quality improvement. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. The FPC should have a degree in a health-related field and/or related training and experience. A valid Virginia driver’s license required. Preferred: Advanced degree in a health- related field; knowledge of state procurement and contracting guidelines; ability to analyze epidemiologic data and conduct program evaluation; experience in viral hepatitis prevention.
