Under direct supervision and in a training status, performs evaluations for the DeKalb County Georgia Board of Health in the following specialized environmental health programs: swimming pools and spas, health education, mosquito and rodent control.
Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:
I. Conducts inspections on assigned facilities and/or sites for compliance with applicable health codes in a Public Health District. 1. Conducts evaluations at facilities to determine compliance with environmental health laws and regulations in accordance with established procedures. 2. Performs follow-up inspections as required to monitor correction of non- compliance deficiencies in accordance with established procedures. 3. Informs facility officials of inspection results and any corrective measures needed for achieving compliance in a timely manner. 4. Assists with investigations into possible causes of illnesses based on accepted public health procedures and completes applicable reports in a timely manner. 5. Calibrates equipment as necessary.
II. Performs various activities associated with the operation West Nile Virus and Vector Borne Disease Programs.
1. Applies larvicide to identified target areas within Dekalb County. 2. Handles requests for services from residents of Dekalb County. Provides educational material for residents. Conducts visual evaluations, identifying potential mosquito breeding sites. 3. Maintains mosquito trap in association with WNV surveillance program. 4. Participates in response to the identification of WNV positive mosquito pools and the occurrence of positive human cases of West Nile Virus.
