Position Description: The Clinical Research Coordinator will work on 2 NIH-funded studies that are investigating hospital quality and racial and ethnic disparities in severe maternal morbidity and racial and ethnic disparities in very preterm birth morbidity and mortality in New York City.

The Clinical Research Coordinator will be an entry level position that will assist with the Qualitative Phase of both grants. In the Qualitative Phase, the Principal Investigator and qualitative researcher will conduct semi-structured key informant interviews with a mix of clinicians and non- clinical managers at approximately 10 New York City hospitals as well as conduct approximately 8 patient focus groups across the 2 studies. The goal is to learn more about how hospitals care for pregnant women and for very preterm infants and which policies, procedures, and characteristics are associated with the best maternal outcomes and the best neonatal outcomes. The last phase will be dissemination of results and discuss study findings with hospital and obstetric and neonatal leaders as well as mothers in New York City. The clinical research coordinator will primarily provide the program manager with assistance with the completion of IRB requirements and be responsible for sending out interview and meeting reminders, coordinating with hospital sites on the date and location of hospital interviews, and assisting program manager with daily project duties that may arise. Working closely with both the program manager and the Principal Investigator, the Clinical Research Coordinator will: participate in the recruitment process, the informed consent process, assist with data collection (qualitative interviews and focus groups) and perform data queries and deliverables throughout the qualitative and dissemination phases. The Clinical Coordinator will also attend project-related meetings and provide general assistance with project-related administrative tasks (i.e. creating reference libraries, conducting literature reviews, assisting with presenting study materials, and updating NIH bio sketches.

Other duties may include: Assisting with the Women’s Health Research Institute administrative items, developing project timelines, assisting with IRB submissions and grant proposals.

Qualifications: BA/BS required, 1 to 2 years research experience, Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, Publisher, Powerpoint) and SPSS/SAS. Basic knowledge of Endnote Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
