Position Description: The Centre of Excellence for Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Systems is a five-year partnership program that is housed at IDRC, and embedded in the Maternal and Child Health Program. Funded by IDRC and Global Affairs Canada, this CA $16 million initiative supports the work of the Global Financing Facility (GFF).

PROGRAM OFFICER, KNOWLEDGE TRANSLATION Centre of Excellence for Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Systems Term Position, until March 31, 2019 – Ottawa, Canada

As the Program Officer, Knowledge Translation, you will be responsible for promoting the work of the Centre of Excellence by coordinating the finalization and implementation of its communication strategy and its inter-linkages with broader IDRC, Global Affairs Canada, and GFF communications objectives. You will play a critical project management role within the team to commission and oversee contracts and/or grants with external suppliers, ensuring relevant knowledge products on CRVS systems are developed, easily accessible and widely shared in appropriate formats.

You will also manage the Centre of Excellence’s web presence and support regular, ongoing engagement with the CRVS community of practice. As well, you will administer and coordinate the communication activities for the Initiative, in close collaboration with relevant team members, and ensure high-quality reporting within IDRC and for other external stakeholders.

Qualifications: Overview of Qualifications • Master’s degree in a relevant health or social science discipline such as public health, international development, or health policy and management; or in communications with a demonstrated understanding of health in a developing country context; • Minimum of three years of relevant knowledge translation, communications and research experience; • Bilingual (English/French) position at an intermediate level. • Demonstrated knowledge on issues and current debates relevant to information systems, statistics, maternal and child health, and health systems research, on donor and government landscape in Canada, Africa and internationally • Experience working in development and/or research-based institutions and in developing regions, in particular Africa, is an asset.
