Position Description: The Research Associate II (RA II) is a contributing member of the Community Health Systems (CHSD) team which provides a broad range of assistance to communities as they implement health improvement initiatives and build locally and regionally integrated health systems. Technical assistance is centered around helping communities develop a strategic approach to program implementation, build capacity utilizing technical and adaptive approaches, and focus on long-term sustainability. Essential to the success of this position is the ability to build positive relationships with representatives of grantee organizations and their collaborating partners. This position may require extensive national travel at certain times of the year. The ideal candidate will provide technical assistance and capacity-building support working with communities funded through the state and federal agencies. In addition to supporting communities, the Research Associate II will help support CHSD team practice development by helping to coordinate the development of new training tools and modules,bringing new methods and modes into the technical assistance work and developing processes for capturing and understanding grantee needs and communicating the impact of funding on organizations, collaborations and communities.

Qualifications: Master's degree in a related field and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications: It is expected that the candidate will have extensive knowledge of general health policy. Experience providing technical assistance to programs and/or grantee organizations and applied research skills (qualitative and quantitative) are highly desired.

Organization Description: The Georgia Health Policy Center (GHPC), established in 1995, provides evidence- based research, program development and policy guidance on local, state and national levels to improve health status at the community level. GHPC mission is to integrate research, policy, and programs to advance health and well-being. Housed within the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University, the GHPC, has more than 100 diverse public and private clients on local, state, and national level and has worked in more than 800 communities across the country. The GHPC offers a wide-range of evidence-based qualitative and quantitative research, evaluation, and translation services as well as technical assistance to communities and decision makers. We draw on experience from more than 100 projects supported by more than 100 diverse clients. All of our work falls into one or more of the following categories: research, policy, programs and the points in between. With more than two decades of experience, the GHPC is at work nationwide, focusing on solutions to some of the toughest issues facing health care today, including: child health and well- being, community and public health, community health systems development, health care reform, health in all policies, long-term services and supports, private policy and grants management, and public and private insurance coverage.
