Position Description: The San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS), Office of Diversity and Equity (ODE) is looking for a Community Health Planner to refine and execute organizational change plans over 6 months. The Community Health Planner is a full-time (40 hours/week) Extra-Help position. Applicants should have a passion for programs working on community engagement and empowerment, decrease stigma and discrimination and support wellness and recovery of marginalized communities.

Under general supervision of the BHRS Office of Diversity and Equity (ODE) and reporting to the Director of the Office of Diversity & Equity, this full- time temporary position will execute plans for two aligned projects: GARE and MCOD.

Government Alliance on Racial Equity (GARE) GARE is a national organization leading regional trainings on how to dismantle structural racism from within government. San Mateo County Health System participated in the 2017 Bay Area GARE cohort and now needs assistance with implementing the SMC- specific action plan created this year. Duties include:

Multicultural Organizational Design (MCOD) MCOD is on ongoing change process within BHRS. This process will make BHRS a more inclusive workplace and BHRS services more culturally appropriate. The selected candidate will help refine and carry out the MCOD plan within BHRS. Duties include:

Duties include: - Oversee and coordinate strategic planning and implementation efforts related to the GARE & MCOD goals. - Identify opportunities and implementation strategies to advance ODE goals. - Develop implementation plans with staff in several Health System divisions. - Implement evaluation plans, including data collection, documentation and reporting for the all the program areas this position oversees in accordance to State and program specific guidelines where applicable.

- Analyze relevant data and utilize the results to inform or develop initiatives that address priority health issues.

- Write clear, concise, and effective reports, presentations, policy memos, correspondence and news releases.

- Participate and represent ODE in Health Equity Initiative(s) and other assigned BHRS meetings.

- Support and provide technical assistance to other ODE-related projects as needed.

- Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess: - A Master's degree in Public Health, Public Policy or Public Administration (REQUIRED). - At least one year experience with program or project management in a health setting. - Strong organizational skills with ability to plan, track and manage schedules and coordinate effort with participants and staff. - Experience working with ethnically and culturally diverse communities.

- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

- Dedication to advancing health and equity demonstrated through work including community, transportation or housing planning and policy experience and/or personal experience having been adversely affected by health inequities. - An understanding of race, equity, behavioral health, and cultural humility - Ability and willingness to manage multiple projects and collaborate with diverse stakeholders skillfully - Work experience with and knowledge of the impacts of social, economic and physical factors on health outcomes and health inequities and an ability to think about health broadly. - Ability to facilitate and lead team projects. - Political astuteness and strong communication skills to represent the Health System at public meetings.
