Position Description: This temporary position is term limited: 3 months (Potentially: December – February) with a possible extension to March based on program needs. Compensation: This position will be a 40 hour per week position hired through our temporary staffing agency, ACRO. The compensation will be based on experience and will be $20-$25/hour.

The purpose of this position is to provide advanced epidemiologic support for tracking environmental hazards that affect public health. This position will support database development for tracking nationally standardized environmental health (EH) indicators as part of state and national Environmental Public Health Tracking (EPHT) networks. The individual in this role will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to conduct epidemiologic and exploratory analyses of health and environmental data sets.

• The Epidemiologist will assist with developing a Data Management Plan which includes standard operating procedures for collecting, formatting, and analyzing Environmental Public Health Tracking Nationally Consistent Data and Measures (NCDM) for submission to the CDC and the state portal. Indicators include health outcomes such as hospitalizations, emergency department visits, and birth defects. Due to CDC: 2/28/18. • Assist health educator with displaying significant findings on outreach documents • Apply suppression rules for display of data and communicate suppression to GIS team (e.g. ensure that datasets stratified by age, sex, and location are displayed properly) • Validate CDC created crude, age-adjusted, and prevalence rates for hospitalization and emergency department data, and birth defects data before being made public. • Assist Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program in developing Tracking standard datasets for elevated blood lead levels in children for submission to CDC for spring data submission, including development of metadata. Due to CDC: March/April 2018. • Assist Drinking Water Program with formatting and analyses of private well water and public water data to Tracking Standards, including development of metadata. Data includes display of contaminants in water. Due to CDC: March/April 2018. • Assist Climate and Health Program with submission of cold-related illness hospitalizations and emergency department visit datasets to CDC. Due to CDC: March/April 2018 • Participate in CDC Content Working Groups for Tracking and State Tracking Workgroups

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a closely related field. Work experience in epidemiology, biostatistics, or data analysis in a public health, university, hospital, or healthcare environment. Experience working with databases. Working knowledge of SAS required.
