Under the supervision of the Digital Marketing Officer, the intern will assist with PCI’s social media efforts and support efforts to raise PCI’s visibility in the digital space. The intern will also assist with other marketing-related tasks to help with PCI’s overall storytelling.
DUTIES & KEY TASKS:
Social Media •Draft content for PCI’s social media platforms •Assist in posting to PCI’s Instagram account, contributing to Instagram strategy, and growing PCI’s follower base on the platform •Assist with social media research and implementation of best practices to grow online presence •Assist in identifying current trends or campaigns that are in line with our brand (#BringBackOurGirls, #unselfie, #OrangeUrWorld, etc.)
Blog •Draft blog content •Post content and images to PCI blog using WordPress platform
Digital Asset Management •Assist in the development of systems for obtaining and entering stories from the field into an online storytelling system •Assist with photo and story uploading and categorizations •Clean up digital media archives (images, videos)
Public Relations •Maintain PCI’s media distribution lists •Increase visibility by sharing PCI events on community calendars
Administrative Tasks •Organize and maintain catalog of usable content •Archive publications as needed •Provide other administrative assistance as needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: •Current undergraduate or graduate student studying preferably marketing, communications, journalism, public relations or a related field •Applicant must be a current student and either able to receive academic credit or able to provide an official letter from the school stating that the internship contributes to intern’s education. •Excellent written and verbal skills •Experience with social media platforms (especially Instagram) •Interest in NGOs and international health and development •Eye for photography •Ability to work both independently and as part of a team •Computer skills including WordPress and MS Office •Ability to use own computer a plus •Video creation/editing experience a plus
SPECIAL SKILLS PREFERRED: •Spanish proficiency a plus
Flexible schedule of 15 hours per week for a minimum of 16 weeks. This internship is a paid position, located at 5151 Murphy Canyon Road, Suite 320, San Diego, CA 92123.
