Position Description: The UNLV School of Community Health Sciences is seeking an open rank full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty member at rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor to join the growing Social and Behavioral Program within the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health in the School of Community Health Sciences.

In particular, we are interested in an investigator who conducts health disparities research that adversely affects disadvantaged populations that include racial and ethnic minorities (African American, Hispanic American, American Indian, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander), rural populations, sexual and gender minorities. The candidate faculty member will support student matriculation, teach and collaboratively conduct research focused health disparities with expertise in one or more of the following areas: mental and behavioral health, health communication and/or aging.

The faculty member will have an established track record of research dissemination that includes local, regional and national presence at conferences, seminars, symposia and community outreach events. S/he will provide training and mentorship for students interested in health disparities research.

This faculty member will enhance the impact of health disparities research by creating collaborations and partnerships with community, social, clinical and translational health disparities research centers at local, state, national and global levels. The successful candidate will need to have a demonstrated track record in securing external grant awards from such agencies as the National Institutes of Health, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, National Science Foundation and other funding agencies.

Qualifications: • Have earned a PhD, Dr.PH, or doctoral degree in health science related fields from a regionally accredited college or university. • Possess a track record of external research funding. • Have a strong scholarship and publication record in health disparities research as this research pertains to mental and behavioral health, health communication and/or aging. • Have a national reputation as a health disparities researcher as evidenced by a track record of peer reviewed published research and external grant support. • Have strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Organization Description: The UNLV School of Community Health Sciences (SCHS) was established in 2004 and is dedicated to improving the health and well- being of people worldwide. The SCHS departments, programs, and research units work to provide a diverse education, practical training experience, and numerous community involvement opportunities to prepare students to become leaders and professionals in the field of Public Health.
