Position Description: Consultant will work in NACDD's Public Health Leadership and Practice team and report to the Senior Public Health Leadership and Practice consultant to manage the distance based Chronic Disease Directors Orientation course including learner recruitment, faculty recruitment, management of the online learning platform, management of the course series, filming of lectures, monitoring and facilitating virtual discussion boards, and facilitating video conference classroom sessions. In addition, the consultant will coordinate content development, testing, and dissemination for leadership and management skill and knowledge development for state health department chronic disease prevention professionals. Channels of dissemination will include distance/web-based instruction, mentoring, coaching, communities of practice, and in-person courses. Responsibilities include: • Regular attendance at weekly team meeting • Participation in two in-person team meetings, locations and dates to be determined • Regular attendance at monthly NACDD consultant meeting • Contribution to project progress reporting • Consultant will assist and support the mission and overall organization development of NACDD, which may include, but is not limited to, participation on NACDD committees, facilitation of program meetings, communication of expertise/knowledge i.e. speaker, member recruitment, education of policy makers, technical assistance, preparation of scientific publications/presentations and educational activities related to chronic disease control and prevention efforts. • Consultant will partner with NACDD Senior Director of Programs to develop a strategic plan/work plan for project implementation. Consultant is also responsible for approving deliverables of agreed upon vendors and reporting vendor challenges/barriers to the Senior Director of Programs. • Consultant will assist Lead Consultant(s) with developing a project work plan and will partner as needed with NACDD Director of Program Evaluation for guidance. • Prior work with state health and/or national non-governmental health and education organizations preferred.

Qualifications: • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions clearly and comprehensively from all levels of management, NACDD members and consultants, and determined stakeholders. • Ability to manage online learning platforms and learning communities • Strong project management, prioritization, and planning skills, with demonstrated success producing high- quality deliverables on time and within budget. • Demonstrate experience in leading and working in a cross-functional collaborative team environment, building and fostering relationships and promoting team spirit. • Excellent multitasking skills and problem solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions. • Demonstrate a strong decision making background with follow up skills and customer service dedication. • Able to master technologies and software applications. • Proactive, high energy, motivational, results-driven, and detail- oriented. • Exceptional interpersonal skills to communicate effectively orally and written to a wide range of professionals at different levels, internally and externally; listening attentively. • Understand the importance of keeping current industry or subject matter expertise. • Establish and maintain professional credibility and diplomacy. • Master degree in Public Health, Public Health Administration or related field with minimum of five years of experience in the public health field. • At least three years of work experience in a state, county or local health department- strongly preferred. • Prior Association or other not– for-profit experience- preferred. • Demonstrate knowledge of group learning and facilitation experience- preferred. • Knowledge of leadership theory and adult learning theory. • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint) is required
