Position Description: The Data Core in the Office of Population Health is responsible for providing innovative analytics that have the power to transform the care we deliver at NYC Health + Hospitals. The Data Core touches risk targeting, access to care, depression, care management, outreach to the uninsured and support of incarcerated populations. Our mission is to use data to create information at the program, site and system levels. The Data Core seeks a Dashboard Data Analyst to expand the reach of our Population Health Dashboard.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Working with a team, the Dashboard Data Analyst will explore clinical, scheduling and claims data to create actionable information for front-line providers and senior leadership. She/he will pull, clean, create and validate measures that span our population health priorities.

The Dashboard Data Analyst’s principle responsibility will be providing data for the Population Health Dashboard, a Tableau product that the Office of Population Health delivers to our ambulatory care colleagues.

The Data Analyst will clean and analyze data, visualize information, develop documentation to help end users navigate content, and review the national measure landscape to ensure that we mirror the best clinical recommendations.

The Data Analyst must communicate results to programmatic partners, requiring a keen understanding of methods and data as well as an ability to break down sophisticated concepts into consumable information for a lay audience.

Finally, as with all members of the Data Core, the Data Analyst will contribute to the applied research agenda of the Data Core, which may include investigation of NYC Health + Hospitals high risk population, uninsured utilization and service delivery, cost modeling, or claims data mining.

The ideal Data Analyst will bring analytic skills, a collaborative mentality and passion for our population health mission to this role.

Qualifications: 1. Master of Public Health, including coursework on epidemiology, biostatistics or economics or Masters in related analytical field 2. At least one year of full time data analysis experience, with a strong preference for 2+ years analyzing claims data, electronic medical record data or other “big data”

Department Preferences • Strong background in SAS, SQL or both software platforms - experience using Tableau Desktop or Tableau Server a plus • Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment and flexibility; possess effective time management and organizational skills; and is able to work independently within a team. • Experience in health care delivery systems and/or health information technology to support population health a plus • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as quantitative skills. • Detailed oriented and able to manage projects effectively with different partners. • Strong interpersonal, communication, and group collaboration skills are essential.
