Position Description: The Office of Population Health is a part of OneCity Health, a wholly-owned subsidiary of New York City Health + Hospitals and NYC’s largest Performing Provider System. The Office of Population Health encompasses primary care transformation, development of innovative care models, chronic disease prevention and management, research and evaluation, and population health analytics.

The Office of Population Health is currently seeking a Data Analyst to provide support for research and evaluation within the Office of Population Health as well as for an innovative research partnership with the New York University (NYU) School of Medicine. The NYU-Health and Hospitals Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) was established in 2009 and re-awarded in 2015 by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences. The NYU-Health + Hospitals CTSI supports clinical and translational research that transforms health care and improves community health, and a sub-award of the grant specifically supports research initiatives at NYC Health + Hospitals.

Under the supervision of the Director of Research and Evaluation, the Data Analyst will perform research and analyses requiring specialized knowledge of clinical and health care data to support NYC Health + Hospitals research efforts. Advanced analytical and technical skills, initiative, and creativity are critical qualities for this position. The Data Analyst reports to the Director of Research and Evaluation and will work collaboratively across the Office of Population Health.

Responsibilities • Assist internal and external stakeholders with data analysis requests related to priority research questions and development of secondary data sets based on research needs. • Create secondary data sets using clinical warehouse, registry, claims, and other health care data sources to best address research questions. • Perform basic statistical analyses as well as reviews for statistical accuracy, validity, and applicability of analytical methods. • Translate research and analysis findings into content for briefing documents, presentations, abstracts, manuscripts, and other materials, as needed. • Develop a system and metrics to track progress and growth of research (e.g., recruitment and enrollment into studies, successful grant applications, publications submitted). • Liaise and build partnerships within OPH and H+H to support innovative research and analyses to advance population health. • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications A master's degree in statistics, biomedical informatics, epidemiology, or an equivalent or equally acceptable program, and four or more years of satisfactory, full-time paid experience in conducting clinical informatics or other healthcare data analysis and programming ? Department Preferences • Five or more years of experience in programming and experience in the application of clinical data, including proficiency with SAS, SUDAAN, SQL and other statistical analysis software • Experience creating and working with large data sets from clinical warehouse databases, health utilization data, and/or health care data • Experience working with big data • Experience with data management, analysis, and documentation • Exceptional attention to detail • Ability to adapt to new, complex data structures and tackle novel problems creatively • Strong project management skills; demonstrated ability to develop and manage multiple projects at once, strategize timelines, and meet deadlines. • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with internal and external partners • Demonstrated interest/experience in working on population health-related analyses
