Position Description: Job Summary

The Psychologist will work in the Adolescent Depression, Prevention and Treatment (ADePT) lab at CHOP on several studies focused on the risk, prevention and treatment of adolescent depression at CHOP and in various community settings. The Psychologist will be trained to deliver Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Depressed Adolescents, an evidence-based treatment for depression, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy – Adolescent Skills Training, an evidence-based depression prevention program so s/he can assist in training and supervising community-based clinicians involved in various research projects. In addition, the psychologist may help train and supervise research staff in the administration of diagnostic interviews. Additional contributions include data analysis, preparation of manuscripts for publication in refereed journals, preparation of research grant proposals, collaborating and interacting with other researchers within the institution, and mentorship of other research staff. In addition, the Psychologist will be encouraged to conduct his/her own independent research in the area of youth mental health with the guidance of the principal investigator.

Job Responsibilities

Participates in the design, planning and conduct of one or more adolescent depression research studies.

Trains and supervises research staff and community personnel in study procedures including the administration of diagnostic interviews and the delivery of depression prevention interventions and depression treatments.

Composes/assists in developing publications for peer reviewed, scientific journals.

Assists with the submission of applications for grants/contracts for funding of research projects.

Acts as a liaison to community sites and families involved in clinical research.

Responsible for appropriate use of research funds.

May participates in educational programs and teaching assignments.
