Position Description: The Laboratory Data Quality Assurance Analyst will be a member of an interdisciplinary team of epidemiologists, surveillance system developers, and public health professionals collaborating on electronic laboratory reporting and disease surveillance systems designed to support a variety of high profile public health issues, including communicable disease outbreaks and reportable disease surveillance.

Responsibilities: • Reviews laboratory surveillance data received electronically and ensures the results meet standard requirements. • Leads paper validation and shut-off activities for the department. • Convene calls with hospital laboratory personnel and county health department epidemiology programs to coordinate by facility the final validation steps. • Compare results received via paper to that received electronically. • Document and validate the accuracy of the electronic laboratory record to ensure completeness between paper and results received electronically. • Communicate with laboratories regarding discrepancies and missing data. • Consult with facilities to identify and find solutions to resolve issues. • Assist with the final sign-off from paper to electronic reporting • Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to data management and validation processes. • Design, implement, prepare, and deliver quality assurance reports for all facilities participating in electronic laboratory reporting. • Query data to produce reports to monitor record completeness and compliance. Established queries are written in MS SQL and/or SAS. Query writing preferred. • Provide technical support and training regarding interpreting laboratory results. • Respond to select inquiries pertaining to data both verbally and in writing. • Maintain and update database containing contact information for ELR data providers and their associated stage in ELR participation • Attend weekly surveillance systems meetings and provide status updates, including issues identified and possible corrective actions and solutions.

Qualifications: Qualification Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in an information technology, communications, computer science, health information systems management, health informatics, biostatistics, or public health. • Detail oriented, structured, organized and interested in performing maintenance tasks. • Critical thinking, data management skills with the ability to organize data and create reports. • Ability to perform SQL queries and/or utilize SAS to organize information into reports and interpret findings is preferred. • Demonstrated critical thinking and planning skills; ability to take tasks and break them down into manageable, process-driven segments. • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. • Experience with electronic health records and health information systems preferred. • Experience with electronic laboratory data and knowledge of laboratory test types and methods is preferred. • Knowledge and interest in communicable diseases is preferred.
