Position Description: Responsibilities: The incumbent of this position will be a member of the Division of Family Health’s research and program evaluation team involving public health surveillance and evaluation for maternal and child health initiatives, including identifying issues related to health outcomes and health disparities. This may include analysis of data related to infant and child health promotion, mortality and morbidity including children with special health care needs, and other maternal and child health topics that will assist the Division to fulfill its mission. As a member of the New York State Perinatal Quality Collaborative (NYSPQC) and the Safe Sleep Collaborative Improvement and Innovation Network (COIIN) teams, the incumbent will also assist with the development of tools for electronic data collection and the reporting and visualization of perinatal quality improvement data. This individual will also assist surveillance and data management staff in a broad range of activities including performing data linkages, assisting with the planning and development of questionnaire-based quality improvement data measures, development of reports and presentation of results, developing training materials, and provision of direct training and technical assistance in person or via webinar for external NYSPQC and CoIIN stakeholders. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field and two years of research experience in the collection and evaluation of data. A Master's degree may substitute for one year of the research experience. Preferred Qualifications: Experience or coursework in statistics, mathematics, epidemiology, public health, or public policy. Experience with data collection and analysis, database management, and research analysis using public health or health-care data sets; experience providing direct technical assistance to external stakeholders is preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills and experience using SAS and Microsoft Office. Experience in the analysis of data for quality improvement purposes in public health or a health care setting is preferred, and experience using R and/or SQL.
