Position Description: ISGlobal is seeking a candidate to apply for a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship within the Health Systems Research Group. The candidate must have significant accomplishments relating to one or more aspects of the public health response to HIV. The candidate must be committed to excellence in research in a multidisciplinary environment, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including a full command of writing for scientific publication. Candidate must fulfil the eligibility requirements to apply for the current Marie Curie IF open call.

In an era when many people are living with controlled HIV infection but have other chronic health conditions and quality-of- life issues, health systems need to fundamentally change their approaches to HIV care. The Marie Curie fellow will help contribute to the new evidence base that is needed to guide these changes. Specifically, the Marie Curie fellow will be asked to lead and support studies measuring the prevalence of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) issues in HIV clinic cohorts in one or more European countries, as well as studies evaluating the impact of a clinic-based HRQoL intervention on patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing and administering surveys as well as coding and analysing quantitative data. This candidate will also have sufficient methodological skills to lead in developing an effective study design for measuring the impact of a non- biomedical intervention on a patient population.

Candidates are expected to have a general understanding of the history and current status of the global community’s response to the HIV epidemic, including the “90-90- 90” target and global monitoring of country progress, as well as a strong grasp of key aspects of HIV clinical management such as comorbidity prevention and treatment, antiretroviral therapy, HIV resistance and viral load monitoring. Familiarity with health-related quality- of-life (HRQoL) research findings is also desirable.

ISGlobal will provide full-time salaried support for the development and submission of the proposal during a 4-month period in mid-2018.

Qualifications: Mandatory requirements:

Researchers in possession of a full doctoral degree (EU-PhD title or adapted to the Spanish system is required) by the call deadline (12 September 2018). Researchers may be of any nationality, depending on the requirements:

(For European Fellowships) Researchers must not have resided or carried out the main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the call deadline (12 September 2018).

(For Global Fellowships) the researcher must not have resided or carried out the main activity (work, studies, etc.) in a Third Country (not an EU member state or H2020 associated country) where the initial outgoing phase takes place for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to the call deadline (12 September 2018).

Please take into account that these fellowships are for “excellent researchers”, which implies a publication track record and an exceptional CV and command of written English.

Organization Description: The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is the fruit of an innovative alliance between academic, government, and philanthropic institutions to contribute to the efforts undertaken by the international community to address the challenges in global health. It is part of the Hospital Clínic, the leading research hospital in Spain, and the University of Barcelona.
