Position Description: The Joseph J. Zilber School of Public Health, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, invites applications for a non-tenure- track Visiting Assistant Professor position in Public Health Policy and Administration that will begin on August 20, 2018. The successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate-level public health policy courses, with additional opportunities for teaching in the School’s upcoming undergraduate program in public health; mentor graduate students; and develop or expand their own research program. This position is a 9-month appointment with a two-year contract. Continuation of contract beyond the first year is contingent upon satisfactory performance in teaching and service. The Zilber School offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Doctoral degree or equivalent in Public Health Policy or related disciplines (e.g. Health Policy, Public Policy, Sociology, Health Services Research) by August 20, 2018. Preferred Qualifications: (1) On-going research in Public Health Policy. (2) Proven ability/strong potential to teach graduate-level Public Health Policy courses and mentor graduate students. (3) Research with a population health and/or health equity perspective. (4) Teaching interests in one or both areas of qualitative methods and health care systems and administration from a population health perspective.

As the only accredited school of public health in the state of Wisconsin, the Zilber School fosters a uniquely interdisciplinary environment and offers opportunities for collaboration across the University. Research interests of current Health Policy faculty include tobacco control, social media, health systems research, immigrant health, socioeconomic health policies, racial/ethnic segregation, and health disparities. Other faculty in the Zilber School are involved in research that spans life-course analyses, maternal child health, epigenetics, developmental neurobiology and immunotoxicology, environmental toxicology, social and environmental epidemiology, causal inference, statistical genetics, and survival analysis.
