This position takes part in the Communicable Disease Division and the Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response (PHEPR) Program leadership through plan development and maintaining of various base plans, annexes and appendices and Job Action Sheets that describe the jurisdictional responsibilities for the Department.
This position will work with public and private community partners to ensure the Department plans, annexes, and appendices are in alignment with various community plans. Plan development and maintenance is a federal and state requirement. Participate in Emergency Management strategic planning at the program, divisional, department, and community levels. The team focuses on vulnerable population resiliency to support equity through Emergency Management lens.
Some of what you'll do: •Maintains Departments All Hazards plan, coordinates and updates the Departments Continuity of Operations Plan, Develops new (Recovery, Catastrophic), updates (Alternate Care System, Medical Counter Measures), and maintains existing Annexes and Appendices Establishes plan review cycles and identifies gaps in existing plans, annexes, and appendices •Community response plan, annexes, and appendices coordination, Department and community planning activities, Department and community training activities, Department and community exercise activities •Response activities-Incident activation, response, demobilization, and quality improvement actions. Who should apply:
Master's degree and four years of relevant experience in community health, environmental, education, or other relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential functions of work.
Required Certifications and Licensure • Possession of a valid driver's license and an acceptable driver's abstract prior to employment.
Desired •Experience working as an Environmental Health practitioner. •Experience using SharePoint, ICS 300 and ICS 400.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements: Work Setting: Work is mostly performed indoors in an office environment, Exposure to hazards is limited to those commonly found in government office environments. Occasional outdoor work to survey, inspect, or move trailers with supplies and equipment. The potential for dealing with dissatisfied or angry customers and partners exists, requiring skills in conflict resolution. Physical Demands: Able to work safely outdoors: lifting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Tools and Equipment: Duties require the use of standard office furniture and equipment (e.g., desk, filing cabinet, computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, etc.) Travel: Driving a vehicle requiring a license. Extensive local (in and out of Pierce County)travel may be required.
When public health responds to an emergency, you may be assigned duties outside of your regular job description. This may involve responding at any time, including nights and weekends, with possible deployment to locations other than the department.
