Position Description: The Division of Genomic Epidemiology and Clinical Outcomes (GECO) in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health invites applications for a post-doctoral fellowship position to work with faculty members on federally-funded research projects.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a doctoral degree in Epidemiology who is interested in the study of infectious diseases, antimicrobial-resistance and infection prevention strategies. Applicants with excellent oral and written communication skills will be considered. Additionally, applicants must be able to work independently and to collaborate with a research group. Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated experience in the epidemiology of infectious diseases, database management with expertise in Microsoft Access preferred, and statistical data analysis with statistical programming experience in SAS preferred.

Postdoctoral fellows working with GECO faculty will have the opportunity to gain additional training in epidemiology and infectious disease, study design, data analysis, manuscript writing including authorship, and grant writing. We will help mentor postdoctoral fellows for careers in academia, private industry and government public health. An emphasis for postdoctoral fellows seeking subsequent academic jobs will be on first author publications. Fellows will additionally benefit from a rich community of biomedical and translational research collaboration at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
