Position Description: The Department of Health Promotion Sciences is recruiting for a 12-month tenure-track faculty position. We seek to recruit a team member committed to graduate level teaching/mentoring, community-engagement, and academic scholarship aligned with faculty interests. Responsibilities will include teaching graduate courses, serving on masters and doctoral committees, developing and sustaining an active portfolio of extramural funded work, and engaging in academic, professional and local communities.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a PhD, DrPH, or equivalent degree at the time of application and bring expertise that expands or augments existing faculty interests. Two or more years of academic experience is preferred. Evidence of potential to obtain extramural funding to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable populations or those experiencing disparities is preferred. In general, department research addresses determinants of health and associated health disparities. Specific department faculty expertise includes health disparities, food/nutrition equity, American Indian and Latino health, youth wellness, gerontology, participatory research, social marketing. A research emphasis on obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease prevention, or cancer prevention aligns with strategic priorities of the University Health Sciences Center.

Organization Description: The College offers programs for MPH, MS, MHA, and PhD degrees, plus dual MPH/MSW and JD/MHA programs. The Department is home to the Oklahoma Public Health Training Center. The OU Health Sciences Center is one of only four comprehensive academic health centers in the nation with seven professional colleges – Public Health, Allied Health, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Graduate Studies. Cross campus collaboration is encouraged and widespread. Close ties exist with state, county and city health departments, Tribal nations, other colleges/universities, and non-profit/philanthropic organizations.
