Position Description: The Cancer Registry Epidemiologist will play a critical role for the Cancer Registry Program at the state health department. The Cancer Registry Epidemiologist is responsible for the study and evaluation of cancer patterns and trends in Arkansas relative to the US, and also assists in evaluation of the statewide cancer registry efforts for completeness of reporting and data quality.

Qualifications: The Epidemiologist works under administrative direction and is responsible for the study and evaluation of disease and or environmental health problems. The Epidemiologist plans, develops, and conducts epidemiologic investigations and surveillance, and participates in interventions to determine and ameliorate the risk factors and/or causes of diseases or other conditions resulting in adverse health effects. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Hiring Official's Preferences:Preferred: MPH in Epidemiology or equivalent plus two years of work experience in epidemiology. Knowledge of cancer epidemiology. Knowledge of cancer coding schemes for mortality and morbidity. Experience in analysis of cancer data. Experience in evaluating cancer prevention and control programs. Must have valid driver’s license. May require overnight travel (in & out-of- state).
