Position Description: The Trauma System Epidemiologist will play a critical role for the Trauma System at the state health department. The Trauma System Epidemiologist responsible for the study and evaluation of disease. The Epidemiologist plans, develops, and conducts epidemiologic investigations and surveillance, and participates in interventions to determine and ameliorate the risk factors and/or causes of diseases or other conditions resulting in adverse health effects.

Qualifications: The Epidemiologist works under administrative direction and is responsible for the study and evaluation of disease and or environmental health problems. The Epidemiologist plans, develops, and conducts epidemiologic investigations and surveillance, and participates in interventions to determine and ameliorate the risk factors and/or causes of diseases or other conditions resulting in adverse health effects. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Hiring Official's Preferences: Masters degree in Epidemiology or Statistics or related field with nine (9) graduate hours in General Epidemiology, Epidemiologic Methods or Statistical Methods. One to three years of experience working with multiple data sets using one or more statistical software packages, preferable SAS, create merged data sets, tables, charts, and to conduct analyses. Preferred knowledge of trauma system and injury prevention.
