Position Description: An internship/externship that provides the opportunity to work with staff with the HHS Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP), Community Strategies Division, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to focus on the national Healthy People Initiative and be part of our work to better integrate law and policy into Healthy People 2020 (HP2020) – the objectives for this decade. The development of Healthy People 2030 is also underway, and the intern/extern will be able to learn more about this process and to help support these efforts. Their activities will include, but not be limited to: • Working on the development of specific reports and other evidence-based products (e.g., fact sheets, research anthologies) • Researching subject matter for products. • Writing brief memos or summaries • Assisting report and product authors and report work groups • Helping to identify and finalizing citations • Researching specific laws or policies • Developing 50 state datasets • Attending Law and Health Policy-related meetings and/or conferences • Presenting findings from a project developed by the intern/extern

Qualifications: • Graduate students (law and/or public health policy preferred) •Ability to work regular hours, up to 40 hours/week, on-site at ODPHP in Rockville, MD • Potential opportunity for school credit (if allowed) or pro bono credit
