The Alaska Immunization Program within the Division of Public Health, Section of Epidemiology is seeking to fill a Nurse Consultant II position located in Anchorage. We are looking for a motivated and dynamic individual to join our team.
This position provides programmatic and expert clinical consultation, administrative guidance and technical assistance for the Alaska Immunization Program. As the Deputy Program Manager, this position assists in the management and implementation of all programmatic and fiscal activities related to the Alaska Immunization Program.
Under the direction of the Alaska Immunization Program Manager, the job duties of this position include:
Serve as the nursing expert related to immunization services and quality improvement initiatives.
Use evidence based approaches to create effective strategies to improve immunization coverage.
Establish and maintain strong linkages with and provide technical assistance to healthcare providers to improve immunization services.
Collaborate with key stakeholders in the prevention of vaccine preventable diseases.
Identify immunization related public health and policy issues; investigate and analyze causal and contributing factors; articulate and present viable solutions and courses of action.
Educate the public and stakeholders on the burden of vaccine preventable diseases and the impact of effective immunization strategies by presenting information to groups of various sizes and compositions (e.g., health professionals, community groups, Tribal Health).
Foster active partnerships, coordination and collaboration with external partners (e.g., American Cancer Society, Tribal Health Systems) to build consensus to maximize reach and effectiveness at the population level.
Provide analysis of legislative proposals related to immunization services. Coordinate immunization services and collaborate with the Section of Epidemiology Infectious Disease Program, Section of Public Health Nursing, Section of Women's, Children's & Family Health, Section of Rural and Community Health Systems, Tribal Health Systems, and private healthcare providers.
Manage applicable components of cooperative agreements with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention including grant writing, reporting, and budget development and monitoring.
Execute grant-related activities. Develop, negotiate, and administer contractual agreements.
Monitor and evaluate performance of the Alaska Immunization Program.
Use program evaluation findings to improve program performance.

Skill in providing expert consultation and technical assistance related to population level disease prevention and health promotion strategies to program staff, healthcare providers, and the public.
