Position Description: A fellowship opportunity is available to suppor support the Division of Analysis, Research, and Pr and Practice Integration (DARPI) within the Nation National Center for Injury Prevention and Contro Control (NCIPC), Centers for Disease Control and Pr and Prevention (CDC), in Atlanta, Georgia.

Under the direction of a mentor, the sel selected participant will be trained in the fol following activities related to injury and vio violence prevention:

•The use of health care claims data, na national survey data and results from the re research literature to estimate the economic bu burden of injury and violence

•The application of rigorous scientific pr processes to plan, analyze, synthesize, and tr translate research to demonstrate the ef effectiveness of injury and violence pr prevention in real world settings

•How to describe the impact of alternative pr prevention options to maximize the impact of sc scarce prevention resources

•Increase understanding of economic and de demographic changes on rates of injury and vi violence

This program, administered by ORAU through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and CDC. The initial appointment is for one year, but may be renewed upon recommendation of CDC contingent on the availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. The appointment is full-time at CDC in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. Participants do not become employees of CDC, DOE or the program administrator, and there are no employment-related benefits.

Qualifications: •Postgraduate degree (Masters, doctorate or or "ABD" for doctoral degree) in economics, he health services research, health policy or si similar field

•Excellent quantitative skills are desired.

•Knowledge of advanced statistics and ec econometrics is preferred.

•Experience analyzing health care claims d data is desired.
