This is an advanced professional position in a a county wide disease prevention program. In Incumbent must exercise independent ju judgement and initiative and is expected to co communicate by phone, fax, internet or in pe person in a courteous and professional ma manner at all times. Position requires co collection and generation of reports and, as su such, must have knowledge and experience in bi biostatistical methods. This position is su supervised by the Senior Human Services Pr Program manager SES.
Prepares graphic, oral and written summaries of disease findings for the Epidemiology Director, Health Department Programs and Community Partners. Aids in the maintenance of information security and disease registries including the Merlin database. Plans, develops, and implements methods for collection and summary of disease morbidity and mortality data. Collects, organizes and analyzed health statistics. Prepares reports on set schedule and upon request. Aids in the development of computer applications methods and provides in-service tr training related to study design, qu questionnaire development, interview methods an and principles of biostatistics and ep epidemiology. Responds promptly to data re requests. Distributes data summaries to co community partners as requested. Posts se selected data summaries of health statistics on on the BCHD web site.
Develops program methods for data collection and statistical analysis of communicable diseases, including disease suggestive of Bioterrorism and other Weapons of Mass Destruction. In conjunction with the Operations Consultant, provides consultation, technical assistance and training to community partners to establish rapid automated systems for disease reporting and the Florida Department of Health’s Epidemiology Community project.
Participates in the conduction and co coordination of epidemiological in investigations of disease outbreaks. This ma may entail questionnaire and interview de design, interviewing of subjects, pr preparation of a plan of action for analysis of of data, compilation of reports, development of of control plans and surveillance of di disease. Uses epidemiologic and statistical me methods to supplement environmental as assessments and related them to health pr problems. As part of the epidemiological te team, this position will be required to be on on call on weekend and holidays in support of of an epidemiologic investigation.
Serves as part of the statewide response team that may be deployed on short notice to respond to a natural, accidentally man-made, or We or Weapons of Mass Destruction event.
