Position Description: The Division of STD Prevention (DSTDP), Epidemiology and Statistics Branch, is seeking an epidemiologist to support the Division’s Strengthening U.S. Response to Resistant Gonorrhea (SURRG) project, an innovative multisite epidemiological and programmatic project designed to stem the tide of antibiotic-resistant Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Antibiotic-resistant N. gonorrhoeae has been recognized by CDC as one of three urgent antibiotic resistance public health threats. The position is located in the Epidemiology Research Team. The incumbent will work closely with the laboratory and surveillance branches, will support scientific and programmatic SURRG project leadership, and will be responsible for project data management and analyses. Strong data management, communication, and organizational skills are critical; experience working with local or state health departments and STDs is desirable. Location: Atlanta, Georgia Corporate Square Campus Qualification requirements: Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Epidemiology (or a related discipline). Experience with STDs (particularly N. gonorrhoeae) is of interest but not necessary. Expertise with data analysis software (i.e. SAS, R), necessary along with a demonstration of strong data management, data analysis, communication, and organizational skills. Experience with molecular epidemiology or social and sexual network analysis is a plus. Percent of travel required: Domestic travel will be less than 10% of time.
