Position Description: The Enteric Disease Epidemiologist will play a critical role in the detection, investigation, and reporting of clusters and outbreaks of enteric pathogens associated with foodborne, animal contact, waterborne, and environmental modes of exposure. This position is funded via the OutbreakNet Enhanced project at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (https://www.cdc.gov/foodsafety/outbreaknet enhanced/index.html).

Qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a master's degree in biology or a related field; plus three years of experience in communicable disease control, epidemiology, environmental science or a related field. ORThe formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in biology or a related field; plus four years of experience in communicable disease control, epidemiology, environmental science or a related field. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:Must possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.

Hiring Official Preference: Master's degree in Epidemiology or equivalent. Comprehensive knowledge of the etiology of foodborne disease and investigation and control of foodborne outbreaks; or be able to demonstrate an ability to rapidly learn about foodborne diseases, food safety, and methods of foodborne outbreak investigation based on development of comprehensive knowledge of other infectious or chronic diseases.
