Position Description: Job Summary: The Department of Health Services Management and Policy at East Tennessee State University is recruiting for a full-time Research Assistant Professor to serve as the Project Director for a large, grant-funded research and evaluation study. This position will be responsible to the Principal Investigator for directing the research and evaluation activities of five component projects, including: leading programmatic and administrative aspects of the grant-operations, budget, staff supervision, financial and scientific reporting, and successful completion of deliverables; guiding the project leaders in developing action plans and ensuring that milestones are completed in a timely and quality manner; convening multiple committees with internal and external stakeholders; managing meetings/calls and facilitating decision making; providing research and technical expertise and overseeing data collection, entry, management and analysis; steering the dissemination of findings to multiple audiences; serving as a resource on scientific and administrative matters; serving as a liaison and maintaining effective communication with multiple stakeholders; ensuring IRB compliance; and performing related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Minimum qualifications: A doctoral degree (PhD or DrPH) in a public health field (such as health services research, epidemiology, biostatistics, or health promotion); 7-10 years of experience in an applied maternal and child health setting with at least 5 years of supervisory/management experience. Additional minimum qualifications include demonstrated success disseminating research findings to a wide audience; experience leading high-functioning teams; and experience managing and administering large grant budgets.

•Proficiency in research and evaluation methodologies

•Proficiency in primary data collection methodologies

•Proficiency in computer software including word processing, presentation, data entry, and statistical analysis software

•Proficiency in technical writing, budgeting, and program evaluation

•Exceptional planning and organizational skills

•Strategic thinking with attention to detail

•Ability to manage a large grant budget

•Ability to develop and guide others in the development of peer-reviewed publications

•Ability to present complex methods and results in ways that are understandable to broad audiences

•Ability to work independently

•Ability to communicate effectively

•Ability to coordinate multiple resources and tasks

•Ability to supervise staff

Required Qualifications: A doctoral degree (PhD or DrPH) in a public health field; 7-10 years of experience in an applied maternal and child health setting, with at least 5 years of supervisory/management experience; record of publication and presentation; experience leading high­ functioning teams; experience managing and administering large grant budgets.

Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with the public health care systems in South Carolina and/or Alabama.
