Position Description: This is your opportunity to get involved in communicating to the public about health policy, keep a small nonprofit running smoothly, and directly help women navigating today’s health insurance system.

The National Center for Health Research is a small nonprofit located just a few blocks from the White House but miles away in terms of health policy goals. Our largest program is our Cancer Prevention and Treatment Fund. We need a smart, dedicated, multi-tasking professional who wants to make a difference on a national and personal level. In addition to helping with articles and social media, the ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills.

The position involves traditional nonprofit office work, as well as writing articles for our website and working with other staff to help hundreds of women who have serious health problems and are having trouble getting their health insurance companies to agree to cover medically necessary surgery.

The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, be very detail-oriented, have a good sense of humor, and the desire to do good.

This position is full-time, and requires a college degree and office experience. Excellent benefits and opportunity for advancement.

Salary: $27,000.00 to $30,000.00 /year depending on experience and qualifications.


Organization Description: The National Center for Health Research analyzes and explains the latest research- based information that patients, policy makers, and the public can use to improve their own health and to develop better health programs and policies.

We conduct research that has the potential to improve health care. We translate research findings into information that is understandable and useful to the public. We work with the media to help get the word out. We educate policy makers and policy analysts through briefings, hearings, meetings, and written materials based on the information. We share our publications and information with other organizations, researchers, and advocates. We coordinate and strategize with them, working together to inform the public and be part of the public debate on policy issues. We use that information effectively to improve the health of adults and children.
