Position Description: |
The role of the CLAS Specialist is to provide ongoing day to day management of culturally and linguistically appropriate services/activities including developing and or maintaining coalitions, programs, initiatives and/or recommending changes impacting VDH and its external stakeholders to promote health equity for all Virginians.
This position will focus on activities such as program planning, development, monitoring, analysis, technical assistance, grant report writing and grant management, recommending policies and procedures, program research, and evaluating changes in rules, regulations and legislative proposals for impact on service delivery. Additionally, this position will provide a broad spectrum of technical assistance to stakeholders. Responsibilities are carried out independently based on an outline or work plan developed by or approved by the supervisor.

Qualifications: |
Working knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and best practices regarding the provision of linguistically and culturally appropriate health care services.
Thorough knowledge of program management.
Skilled in analytical principles and service integration. Bachelor or advanced degree in health, public or business administration, communication or related field and/or equivalent training/experience preferred. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of a state and federal criminal history background check and the Department of Social Service’s Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check, U.S. HHS IG Exclusion List check, employment reference check, and E- Verify.
