Position Description: The Research Data Analyst will join a collaborative and exciting team of researchers at the F.I. Proctor Foundation studying infectious/inflammatory eye diseases in the U.S. and internationally. Researchers at the F.I. Proctor Foundation conduct clinical trials and large epidemiological studies on ocular inflammatory diseases which can cause blindness. The epidemiological studies involve large administrative databases and multicenter clinical trials involve domestic and international collaboration.

This position requires an employee with excellent communication and organizational skills who can be relied upon to play an integral role in implementing research studies (including international clinical trials). The individual will be asked to contribute to study design from a methodological standpoint, help with database creation, management and analysis, as well as to assist in the writing of grants, progress reports, and manuscripts. Responsibilities will also include communication with and coordination of collaborating sites, training investigators and study personnel, and being responsible for regulatory approvals. Travel to study sites may also be required for study implementation and monitoring.

The Research Data Analyst should show a strong interest in clinical research and a desire to contribute to the state of knowledge on the prevention, treatment and correlates of disease. The individual must be able to multi-task, problem-solve, and apply creative solutions to new and unexpected situations at first with substantial supervision but gradually with more and more limited supervision. The employee must be able to communicate effectively verbally and through written materials with collaborators.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications

• BA/BS degree with a major in related field (e.g. biostatistics, public health, epidemiology) and two years of experience in project management or clinical research, or an equivalent combination of education and experience • Knowledge of various study designs and implementation strategies • Knowledge of database creation and management • Understanding of HIPAA and IRB approval process • Ability to develop budgets and track finances • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics, public health or related field and two to three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience • Demonstrated proficiency with statistical software packages (R, STATA or equivalent)
