Position Description: Responsibilities: The Public Health Specialist I will join a team of public health professionals to work on a grant-funded, multi-site, case-control research study of birth defects. The Birth Defects Study to Evaluate Pregnancy exposureS (BD-STEPS) aims to identify modifiable maternal risk factors in order to improve prevention efforts. The PHS I will be responsible for assisting with the coordination and evaluation of study subject recruitment and related data. The incumbent will work with CDC, other study sites, and the interviewing contractor to suggest and review protocol changes, as well as assist with submission of study documents to the Institutional Review Board. The PHS I will track supply of study-related materials and ensure that materials (including incentives) are on hand so recruitment is not impacted. In addition, the incumbent will assist with the implementation of on-line pilot projects and track progress toward pilot project goals. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in epidemiology, social sciences, public health, health administration or a related field; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and two years of experience in that field; OR four years of related experience. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Experience in public health or research coordination. Experience using Excel or Access.
