Position Description: The Office of Data Quality and Visualization is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual for the position of Statistical Analyst. This position is responsible for carrying out a broad and moderately complex range of analytical activities including creating and managing processes to track trends, patterns, issues, and outcomes of services for individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, and developmental disabilities. The Statistical Analyst advises business units throughout the agency on the appropriate use of their data, develops statistical models and formulates criteria and standards in support of business priorities using a variety of statistical methods including logistic and linear regression, longitudinal or multilevel analysis or other techniques.

The Statistical Analyst writes ad-hoc SQL queries for data extraction, aggregates data into graphical and tabular summaries, and communicates quantitative findings to lay audiences. This position will be relied upon to autonomously develop meaningful measures and metrics, write reports which describe and interpret the design of studies, methods of data analysis, and relevant results.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Experience conducting statistical analyses using appropriate methodologies. Experience with management, analysis, and quality assurance of datasets using SQL, R, and/or Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of public health principles and practices, research principles, methods, including survey research, and professional research ethics. Knowledge of relevant data sources and analytic techniques, including statistical modeling used in the social sciences and data management processes.

Preferred Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in psychology, epidemiology, data science or equivalent subject area. Masters degree or equivalent combination of education, training or experience. Experience working with relational databases and using Microsoft data management tools with an ability to write complex queries for data extraction and analysis. Experience handling multiple projects and conflicting priorities with an ability to interpret business needs and requirements and accurately communicate information, ideas and instructions both verbally and in writing.
