Position Description: The Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) is r is recruiting a Senior Epidemiologist to lead lead planning and implementation of popu population health activities in an expanding Divi Division of Epidemiology & Population Heal Health. As the division includes both comm communicable disease and population health focu focus, there will be opportunities to cont contribute across the spectrum of public heal health challenges.

The successful candidate will undertake the fo following key activities to advance po population health: •Lead development of the population health scope-of-work for FCHD, informed by the F Fairfax County Community Health Improvement P Plan, data on health burden and disparities, e emerging threats, and availability of r resources. The plan will build on ongoing w work related to opioids and to obesity, n nutrition and physical activity. •Conduct surveillance for and monitor the h health status, outcomes and disparities a among the Fairfax County population. •Provide technical expertise and assistance i in the design, implementation and evaluation o of interventions to improve population h health outcomes. •Develop, obtain grant funding and implement r research on population health, presenting a and publishing results. •Collaborate with other programs within FCHD i including the Division of Community Health D Development, the Division of Health S Services, and the Health In All Policies C Coordinator, with other Fairfax County a agencies and with community organizations to s strengthen disease prevention and reduce h health disparities. •Lead and manage operations in the Population Health Epidemiology Section including supervision, support and staff development for a multidisciplinary team. Fairfax County is the largest health jurisdiction in Virginia and in the National Capital Region including about 1.2 million people; the population is demographically diverse with 30% being foreign born. FCHD's location allows for the development of partnerships with leaders in public health fields at Federal agencies, universities, and non-profits across the National Capital R Region.

Qualifications: EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Advanced degree in epidemiology: doctorate degree (Ph.D.) plus five years of experience in epidemiology-related work, or master's degree in Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science (MS) with graduate work in epidemiology and/or biostatistics plus eight years of experience in epidemiology-related work; plus, two yea work; plus, two years of supervisory/manager supervisory/managerial positions or equivalent experien equivalent experience managing staff.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Possession of a valid motor vehicle driver's license.
