Position Description: Under the supervision of the Deputy Director, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating key projects and Safe States membership activities. Project activities will include coordinating aspects of the following programs and projects: State Technical Assessment Team program, Innovative Initiatives Award Program, training and webinar series, and overseeing contractual case study work. Safe States membership activities will include coordination of the Safe States Annual Meeting and monthly membership maintenance and outreach activities. Additional duties may be assigned based on skills and need. A portion of the work of this position is made possible through competitive grants and contracts that are scheduled to end in September 2018. While Safe States will make every effort to secure continued funding, it is not guaranteed.

Qualifications: A successful applicant for this position is a highly motivated and flexible individual that can think critically, work independently, and can exhibit the following skills/qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (Public health knowledge, education, and/or experience preferred); • 1-2 years of public health-related work experience required (Injury/violence prevention knowledge and experience are strongly preferred); • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously from planning through completion; • Strong project management and oversight skills; • Solid critical thinking and organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills; • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; • Strong command of the Microsoft Office Suite; and • Ability to travel, as needed.

Formed in 1993, Safe States Alliance is the only national non-profit organization comprised of public health injury and violence prevention professionals representing all U.S. states and territories. Safe States maintains a headquarters office in Atlanta, Georgia and also offers remote work positions. Atlanta-based candidates would work in the Atlanta office.
