Position Description: Working closely with the Principal Investigator, the Senior Clinical Research Coordinator will work on an NIH funded pilot diabetes prevention research project (TEEN HEED) in East Harlem, New York City. The study uses community-based participatory approaches to recruit overweight teens ages 13-19 with pre- diabetes into a randomized trial testing the impact of peer-led group education on weight loss.

Assisting in the daily activities of the research study Organizing Community Action Board meetings Building and maintaining relationships with community partners Leading recruitment and follow-up activities in community settings Collecting, maintaining and organizing study information using electronic databases Corresponding with study participants and maintaining study files Assisting in preparing research study-related documents Managing a small team of interns who will assist with data collection Conducting oral glucose tolerance tests and fingerstick blood sampling Measuring heights, weights, blood pressure, and waist circumferences Assisting in organizing study workshops at community sites

Qualifications: Spanish fluency is highly preferred At least a Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) At least 1-2 years of relevant research experience ? Strong computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint) Capacity to conduct research-related internet searches Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to work in a team-oriented environment Highly attentive to detail and very organized Ability to meet deadlines and maintain administrative priorities Interested in health disparities and community-based research Flexible schedule is required (including some evenings and weekends) for meetings, recruitment events and study visits Preferred prior experience working in prior supervisory position and with youth in urban communities
