Position Description: The Office of Community & Population Health (OCPH) is responsible for designing, implementing and supporting interventions that improve community health and well- being. Based out of the Office of the President, working in close collaboration with government and community relations, public affairs, strategic planning, and external partners, the OCPH team strives to support clinical care from the vantage of the community. The OCPH team uses a data- driven approach to identify issues, design solutions, evaluate their effectiveness and then works with funders and partners to bring them to scale. Our research focuses on evaluating community-interventions to assess their impact on health outcomes and we use a variety of health-related data sources to identify areas of greatest need. Montefiore’s portfolio of innovative programs and research are nationally recognized for their success in improving outcomes in disadvantaged populations.

Reporting into the Manager of Research & Evaluation, and collaborating with others throughout the Montefiore Health System, including researchers at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, will be responsible for using routinely-collected clinical data to evaluate the impact of DSRIP-funded and other programs and clinical interventions. The data analyst will also be responsible for using publicly-available data to assess community health needs and providing guidance to staff members on the use of data to inform program activities, data analysis and program evaluation.

Qualifications: • Master's Degree in a relevant area of study (e.g., epidemiology, public health, health policy) and 2-3 years of related experience

• Experience creating analytic data files from complex data sources

• Knowledge of database software including Microsoft Access and Excel

• Proficiency using statistical software (such as Stata, SAS, SPSS or R) with working knowledge of descriptive and multivariable methods

• Strong working knowledge of descriptive epidemiology and familiarity with publicly-available data sources

• Experience using Geographic Information System (GIS) software is a plus

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Experience presenting technical material to non-technical audiences

• Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. SQL, Oracle), additional analytic software (e.g., qualitative analytic packages), and database conversion software (e.g., StatTransfer) is a plus

• Research experience as evidenced by co-authorship on peer-reviewed publications is helpful
