This is you We are looking for an experienced researcher with a strong, proven interest in health communication and public health. As a researcher, you have worked with diverse audiences — ranging from health care professionals to people with limited literacy skills. You have managed interdisciplinary teams and complex research projects from beginning to end. You are a talented moderator and interviewer who is passionate about understanding the nuances of your target audiences. You’re intellectually curious and enjoy tackling client problems by crafting clear research questions and thoughtfully choosing appropriate qualitative and quantitative methods. You excel at translating research findings into meaningful health communication strategy and product development. You enjoy working independently and collaboratively, have experience giving and receiving feedback, and have outstanding project management skills. You are passionate about making health information easier to understand and use. Responsibilities • Lead communication research tasks — which includes setting research goals, developing approach, managing task resources, and interfacing with clients • Develop sound research plans and instruments, including screeners, moderator’s guides, and surveys • Conduct primary and secondary research using a number of methods including literature reviews, environmental scans, in-depth interviews, focus groups, surveys, and usability testing • Conduct qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis and translate findings into communication strategy on large, complex projects • Work with staff to communicate findings and recommendations to the internal project team (writers, designers, and web developers) and to the client • Train, oversee, supervise, and mentor junior level research staff • Provide oversight and guidance on research logistics including recruitment strategies • Write clear, concise reports (from top-level summaries to detailed technical reports) for delivery to clients • Contribute to research-related business development and marketing activities

Preferred Qualifications • Experience conducting communication research in the health care or public health sector • Experience consulting and conducting research on behalf of the federal government — particularly the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services • Familiar with IRB, Office of Management and Budget Paperwork Reduction Act, and nuances of research clearance processes • Experience conducting research and developing messages and products for audiences with limited (health) literacy skills, particularly older adults • English/Spanish bilingual

Qualifications: Required Qualifications • Master’s degree in a related field such as communication, public health, psychology or other related social science • At least 6 years professional experience • Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative communication research with diverse audiences • Demonstrated effectiveness in a project management role, with an ability to establish and document processes • Experience drafting and finalizing client-facing reports and deliverables • Supervisory experience
