Position Description: POSITION SUMMARY This position will function as the lead on development and implementation of adult learning training ensuring that the NACDD Core Competencies are included in all training and learning programs designed and implemented. This position will provide direct support and input into programmatic efforts working with the leads for Public Health Leadership teams including the design of the GEAR Groups, Chronic Disease “clinics,” and Grand Rounds as well as Thought Leader Round Tables, peer-led podcasts and the Chronic Disease Academy. This position reports to the Senior Director of Programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: • Assists in the design of learning and mentoring activities and ensures Core Competencies are included and aligned with NACDD priorities. • Manages and promotes the competency assessment tool to Members. • Provides the leadership needed for the Chronic Disease Academy planning. • Assesses training needs through surveys, interviews with Members, or consultations with managers and board leadership. • Designs and creates training manuals, online learning modules, and course materials in conjunction with program leads. • Reviews training materials from a variety of vendors and chooses appropriate materials to augment existing program materials. • Monitors and evaluates training programs to ensure they are current and effective and collaborates with the Evaluation team on data management and analysis. • Assists in selecting instructors or vendors to conduct training especially for the General Member Webinars and podcasts. • Researches and coordinates any continuing education credits for programs. • Researches and designs appropriate organization-wide quality training. • Delivers training to employees using a variety of instructional techniques and innovative technologies such as Zoom. • Supports the development and design of peer-led podcasts working with the team leads and the Communications department. • Provides lead and support on educational technologies to staff; arranges for and assists in delivering training programs on various platforms such as on demand courses, Zoom, and GoToWebinar as well as podcasts. • Provides direction and coordinates efforts to ensure that all learning, peer mentoring, and educational programming is aimed at achieving outcome measures. • Assists in the development of the action plan and the implementation plan. • Use the plans to assist and inform project direction. • Performs administrative tasks such as monitoring costs, scheduling classes, setting up systems and equipment, and coordinating enrollment using electronic systems such as CVENT. • Ensures all deliverables are met, timelines are adhered to, project reports are provided and submitted online and on time. • Other work as assigned.

Qualifications: • Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Health Administration or related field with minimum of five years of experience in the public health field as well as a background in instructional design, teaching, training and development, and or adult learning theory. A Bachelor’s Degree and eight years’ experience may substitute. Licenses, certifications and or registrations in certain classes and categories of professional experience is preferred, but not required. • At least three years of work experience in a state, county or local health department- preferred. • Prior Association or other non- profit experience- preferred. • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently with a team. • Demonstrate knowledge of group learning, facilitation, and administrative experience- required. • Dynamic facilitation skills and experience in providing professional development to a wide variety of participants. • Knowledge and experience with accreditation systems and adult continuing education including needs assessment, evaluation, education design, faculty development, curricula design and education research. • Effective communication and organizational skills. • Ability to effectively communicate through technical writing for required Federal Government grants and cooperative agreements. • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior management, staff and consultants and Board of Directors. • Strong project management, prioritization, and planning skills, with demonstrated success producing high- quality deliverables on time and within budget. • Able to take direction well and able to establish and maintain professional credibility and diplomacy. • Experience in federal government grant programs and grants management. • Experience in writing grants (both for private funders and public funders), project work plans and project budgets. • Ability to maintain high-level of professionalism and integrity. • Available to travel, as needed.
