Position Description: The Health Promotion and Genomics Lab (http://hpg.tamu.edu/) in the Department of Health and Kinesiology at Texas A&M University is looking for a one-year Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct social and behavioral science research projects in Public Health Genomics and Cancer Prevention. The HPG lab currently has three Postdoctoral Research Associates, five Ph.D. students, five master students, and several undergraduate and graduate level student workers. Successful candidate will assist in various tasks, including literature review, study design, survey questions development, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, manuscripts/reports writing, student workers' supervision, and working with the Project Director (Dr. Lei-Shih Chen, Associate Professor in the Department of Health and Kinesiology) for coordinating and managing relevant projects as well as other duties as assigned. The candidate is expected to work independently and/or collaborative with other lab members by using advanced statistic skills (e.g., structural equation modeling) to analyze large datasets and write manuscripts. A strong writing skill is required. This appointment is supported by an external funding. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits will be provided. The selected candidate will be appointed for one year. Reappointment will be subject to continuation of external funding.

Job Description: Conduct social and behavioral science research projects in Public Health Genomics and Cancer Prevention

Responsibilities: 1. Managing and analyzing data gathered for research projects. 2. Writing manuscripts, abstracts, and reports related to research project. 3. Coordinating and managing tasks and time line associated with research project. 4. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Required Education and Experience: Ph.D. in public health, health education, psychology, sociology, anthropology or related fields. If the degree had not been conferred at the time applicant applied for a postdoc position, a letter needs to be attached from the school's official Graduate Office and/or Registrar's Office certifying that all requirements for the degree have been met and stating the degree conferral date.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 1. Excellent scientific writing skills. 2. Excellent computer abilities and language skills in English. Excellent communication skills and be able to work as a team player. 3. Being detailed-oriented and patient.  4. Ability to perform several tasks concurrently and have good time management and organizational skills. 5. Strong quantitative and qualitative data collection, management, and analysis skills. 6. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience in grant management and having prior work experience in grant-funded projects. Excellent language skills in Chinese/Mandarin. Published at least three peer-reviewed articles. Able to travel/drive to multiple sites in Texas.
