Are you looking for the opportunity to use your research and data analysis skills to impact policy and improve health? The Kansas Health Institute (KHI) seeks to grow its team of analysts who do exactly that. If you are a quantitative researcher with experience in health, you could be part of a team participating in a wide range of projects that fulfill KHI’s mission to improve the health of all Kansans through educational offerings that support effective policymaking, engage stakeholders at the state and community levels, and provide nonpartisan, actionable and evidence-based information.

Data Analyst candidates should bring strong research and quantitative skills that enable them to participate in a wide range of research and evaluation projects. They will manage and analyze various types of data and transform them into meaningful information. These data sets include but are not limited to claims data for Medicaid, Medicare and commercial health insurance, census data, vital statistics, and health-related survey and surveillance data. Candidates also will support the development of primary data collection and analyze the data.

Data Analyst candidates should have a master’s degree in health services research, public health, statistics, biostatistics, social science, or a relevant discipline, although comparable experience will be considered. Qualified candidates with a minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience or a more advanced degree, e.g., Ph.D., will be considered for a Senior Analyst position. Candidates should demonstrate experience in applied research projects and be familiar with a variety of research methods. Candidates also should have proficient skills in using SAS to manage and analyze large data sets, other publicly available data sources, and survey data to support KHI’s mission. Candidates must have strong writing and analytical skills. Analysts are expected to play an important role in conducting existing projects as well as shaping new projects. A broad interest in health policy and public health is desired. The ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented research setting is essential.
