This position has a flexible base location.
The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries, while strengthening the capabilities of governments and the private sector in those countries to create and sustain high-quality health systems that can succeed without our assistance. For more information, please visit: http://www.clintonhealthaccess.org.
Background on the Global Markets Team:
The hallmark of CHAI's approach is simultaneous and intensive engagement on both the demand and supply sides of the market. On the demand side, CHAI's country teams help governments scale up treatment programs, improve procurement and supply chain management.
Meanwhile, the Global Markets Team (GMT) works to address supply-side barriers to access and foster the development of healthy marketplaces to ensure the sustainable supply of essential medicines. The GMT works closely with drug and diagnostic manufacturers to lower prices, encourages the adoption of stringent quality standards, and facilitates the entry and uptake of new improved products.
The GMT plays the lead role in managing relationships with major pharmaceutical and diagnostics companies to shape their access to medicines policies and programs. The GMT also leads CHAI's engagement with generic firms, assisting in the development of licensing agreements, product development agreements, and entry of generic products into new markets.
News about CHAI's work on access:
The Global Markets Manager will support GMT's Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) market shaping and market dynamics activities. The role will involve leading projects to enhance access to key commodities through the negotiation of supplier agreements or through bringing to market generic competition. This will require the manager to develop business cases, which can include costing models and demand forecasting, among other analyses.
We are seeking a highly-motivated, entrepreneurial individual with outstanding analytical skills, problem-solving ability and communication skills. The manager must be able to function independently, be comfortable working and coordinating the operations of cross functional teams, be flexible, and have a strong commitment to excellence. CHAI places great value on relevant personal qualities: resourcefulness, responsibility, tenacity, independence, energy, and work ethic.
