Position Description: The Division of Public Health, Section of Epidemiology, HIV/STD Program is recruiting for a Disease Intervention Specialist I to join our team committed to protecting the public's health.

Disease Intervention Specialist I (DIS) independently provide a broad range of direct disease testing, intervention, and prevention services to members of the public with or at risk of infection of sexually transmitted diseases. The position conducts public health investigations statewide, partner notification and referral, professional consultation, technical assistance, training, and coordination for proper testing and treatment for those infected with, exposed to, or at risk for reportable STD and /or HIV. This position is eligible for overtime.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in public health, health administration, nursing, epidemiology, health sciences, education, health education, community health, emergency medical services, psychology, the social sciences, the biological sciences, social work, or a closely related field.

AND

Four years of experience administering or providing specialized health care or public health services or programs with an emphasis on communicable disease prevention, control, education, and/or counseling. The required professional experience includes but is not exclusively limited to such work as a Registered Nurse, Public Health Nurse, Health Practitioner, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Physician's Assistant, Health Program Associate, Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician, or the equivalent.

Substitution: A master's degree from an accredited college in one of the required fields will substitute for up to two years of the required work experience.

Four years of any combination of post- secondary education (3 semester/4 quarter credits = 1 month) in public health, health administration, nursing, epidemiology, health sciences, education, health education, community health, emergency medical services, psychology, the social sciences, the biological sciences, social work, or a closely related field, and experience administering or providing specialized health care or public health services or programs directly related to communicable disease prevention, control, and/or education may be substituted for the required degree.
