Position Description: We are seeking an experienced Statistician to lead our Computational Science Core. The ideal candidate for this position has data management and statistical expertise, as well as the experience and/or skillsets to take initiative on project design & development.

Duties include:

-Plan and execute data collection, analysis, and interpretation of data; apply statistical methods to provide inference and supporting information for development of research proposals, power and sample size calculations, internal reports, presentations, and manuscripts.

-In partnership with clinical investigators, design and implement primary studies as well as secondary analysis of existing databases, including VA/non-VA medical system administrative databases, vital and health statistics, cross-sectional surveys, retrospective and prospective cohort studies, and case-control studies.

-Participate in the development of presentations, reports, manuscripts, and supporting documents for research projects.

-Provide mentorship, advice, and general support of the professional development of Computational Core staff.

Qualifications: PhD degree preferred; background in mathematics, statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, psychometrics, or related area. MS applicants with sufficient experience in applied statistics and management are also encouraged to apply.

Organization Description: The Cooperative Studies Program Epidemiology Center, located in Durham, NC is a national epidemiology center for the Department of Veterans Affairs. We design and conduct population research on health and disease to enhance our understanding of their determinants, treatments, and outcomes in order to improve the health, well-being, and care of Veterans and all Americans.
