Position Description: The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) has an immediate opening for a full?time Health Systems Coordinator/Assistant Manager in the Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control. The Center’s mission is to improve Maryland's health by preventing and controlling chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, highly motivated team working to create healthier environments across Maryland.

The Health Systems Team, which resides in the Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control (CCDPC), is responsible for a dynamic portfolio of projects that facilitate disease management in health systems, improving health outcomes for Marylanders -- with particular emphasis on diabetes, heart disease, and stroke prevention. The Assistant Manager supports the Health Systems Team Manager to coordinate, implement, and evaluate these projects, including direct oversight for health system related activities. S/he will be responsible for providing critical programmatic support to a team of 2-4, including grant management, financial tracking, program reporting, and data request tasks. The Assistant Manager will:

• Provide high level programming support related to chronic disease management in health systems,

• Provide direction to a team of at least 2-4 public health professionals,

• Manage contracting (and grant-making) processes, and

• Recommend program activities to improve chronic disease outcomes in Maryland.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• A bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) from an accredited college or university in public health, health services, or related field.

• At least 2 years of experience managing and evaluating public health programs or projects.

• At least one year of supervisory and management experience.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.

A master's degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or a closely related field may be substituted for two years of the required experience.

The successful candidate will be people- oriented, highly motivated and organized, have strong written and verbal communication skills, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
