Position Description: The Office of Data Quality and Visualization is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual for the position of Data Visualization Specialist. This position is responsible for carrying out a broad and moderately complex range of analytical activities including creating and managing processes to track trends, patterns, issues, and outcomes of services for individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, and developmental disabilities.

The Data Visualization Specialist will advise in the formulation of criteria and standards in support of business priorities and autonomously develop meaningful measures and metrics, will aggregate data into graphical and tabular summaries and act as the primary contact for data visualization requests, be a resource to advise business units throughout the agency on the appropriate use of data and will be expected to be able to communicate findings both verbally and in writing.

Qualifications: Selected candidate should have demonstrated proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, D3.js), demonstrated proficiency working with relational databases with an ability to write queries for data extraction and analysis, experience with GIS concepts (e.g. datums/projections, point/line/polygon data) and software (e.g. QGIS, ArcGIS, Geoserver, Leaflet, OpenLayers etc.), experience with management, analysis, and quality assurance of datasets using applicable software toolsets (e.g. R/tidyverse, Excel), have strong and effective written and inter- personal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders, partners, and Staff. Preferred qualifications include a graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in social science, biostatistics, or equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
