Position Description: The Program Research Specialist II will be located within the AIDS Institute Office of Program Evaluation and Research and will participate in evaluation activities for two high profile projects: (1) Initiating medication assisted treatment access for NYS county jail inmates with opioid use disorder; and (2) Vulnerability assessments of sub-regional areas at high risk of opioid overdose and blood-borne diseases associated with non-sterile drug injection. The Program Research Specialist II will assist with the design and development of the evaluation study protocol, develop data collection tools, and perform database maintenance, data quality assurance, data analysis and reporting.

Qualifications: Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field and two years of research experience in the collection and evaluation of data; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and four such years of experience; OR six years of such experience. A Master's degree may substitute for one year of experience. Preferred: A Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Social and Behavioral Sciences or a related field; experience in collection and management of public health program data for evaluation purposes; background and experience in drug user health, medication assisted treatment for opioid dependence, and harm reduction strategies; experience in data analysis using SAS, R, SPSS, Excel and/or other analytical and data management tools; ability to prepare reports, tools and other documents; excellent written, verbal and presentation skills; capacity to work independently.
