Position Description: ABOUT THE POSITION We are seeking a Policy Analyst to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA that requires our expertise. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is the lead federal agency for protecting the health and safety of the U.S. population. As a leader in nationwide efforts to ease the burden of cancer, CDC’s Division of Cancer Prevention and Control (DCPC) works with national cancer organizations, state health agencies, and other key groups to develop, implement, and promote effective strategies for preventing and controlling cancer. The National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP) Division of Cancer Prevention and Control is a national program for the prevention and control of cancer and promotes the overall health of the population. In carrying out this mission, the Center conducts surveillance, epidemiologic studies, and funds public health agencies at the state and local level to carry out programs that prevent and control chronic diseases and promote health behaviors at every stage of life. The Division also provides national leadership in the development, evaluation, and dissemination of effective health promotion, and risk reduction programs.

The requirement for the Policy Analyst is to provide Policy and Communications support services within the Division of Cancer Prevention and Control. The Policy support services will include working with staff across the Division to develop policy and issues management documents that provide a clear and accurate summary of CDC’s cancer prevention and control activities. This will also require maintaining an awareness of external policy developments that may affect CDC cancer prevention and control programs. The Policy Analyst shall provide support to the Division as follows: • Analyze legislation and policies at the federal, state, and local levels that could impact DCPC programs • Track changes in the healthcare or related environments that could impact DCPC programs • Develop materials aimed at educating policymakers and partners about DCPC’s work, to include but not limited to fact sheets, PowerPoint presentations, and Hill alerts • Collect information from appropriate DCPC subject matter experts to inform the development of policy materials aimed at educating policymakers and partners • Update partner tracking database with partner contact information and partner engagement details • Develop partner summaries that include mission, priorities, key contacts, and other pertinent information • Develop monthly updates to highlight new and upcoming products and activities coming out of DCPC’s Office of Policy, Partnerships, and Communication

Qualifications: Required: • Master’s degree required with a focus on public health, public administration, public policy or communication • 3 – 5 years of experience
