Purpose: The SOAR Specialist is responsible for statewide coordination and implementation of Michigan’s SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) Initiative.

Duties and Responsibilities: o Conduct quarterly SOAR training cohorts and maintain statewide network of certified SOAR caseworkers. o Provide daily support to MDHHS Regional SOAR Caseworkers. o Regularly monitor and address SOAR data quality and outcomes in the Online Application Tracking (OAT) system and complete Michigan’s annual SOAR report. o Facilitate bi-monthly technical assistance check-ins open to all Michigan SOAR caseworkers and provide targeted technical assistance as needed/requested. o Create and distribute a quarterly SOAR E-Bulletin to all Michigan SOAR stakeholders. o Lead quarterly SOAR State Steering Committee meetings and assist with Michigan’s Annual Statewide SOAR Meeting. o Research and pursue opportunities to enhance and develop Michigan’s SOAR Initiative.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree is required.

Experience: At least three years of experience in program management and development. Experience with SOAR preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Position will be based in the Housing and Homeless Services office in Lansing. Regular in-state travel and occasional out- of-state travel required.

Lead Worker: Lead workers act as project leaders predominantly and/or coordinate the work activities of others.

IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS

This position is responsible for successfully implementing Michigan’s SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) Initiative administered by MDHHS.

REQUIRED COMMUNICATION

This position is required to communicate with: Regional SOAR Caseworkers, Housing and Homeless Services Team members, Housing and Homeless Services Manager, Housing and Homeless Services Michigan SOAR TA Liaison, Policy Research Associates (PRA)
